THE BASICS
Why choose a cushion engagement ring?
Cushion cuts are chosen for their soft square or rectangular outline and romantic, less severe geometry.
A cushion engagement ring uses a diamond with rounded corners and softly curved sides, giving it a pillow-like outline. It can feel vintage, romantic, modern or glamorous depending on the ratio and facet pattern.
Some cushions are close to square, while others are elongated and behave more like an oval or radiant in finger coverage. Some have broad, chunky flashes; others have a glittering crushed-ice look. Those differences matter more than the name alone.
The cushion is especially strong for bespoke work because it adapts well to solitaires, halos, hidden halos, side stones, vintage-inspired details and coloured gemstones.
