What we engineer before making one
A ring keeper holds something valuable. The pendant, chain, clasp and contact surfaces all matter.
The keeper needs enough clearance for the band width and thickness it is designed to hold. For very wide, deep or unusually shaped rings, we design around the actual ring dimensions.
Where possible, we match the keeper metal to the ring metal. This helps reduce uneven surface wear from repeated metal-on-metal contact over time.
The interior track must be rounded, high-polished and free of sharp edges, seams or exposed stone settings that could bite into the ring shank.
The lower cradle and pendant weight distribution should keep the keeper centred when a ring is added, reducing tilt and making the necklace sit naturally against the sternum.
A keeper should not be hung from a very fine fashion chain. We specify stronger chain profiles such as Franco, box, rope or heavier curb styles around the expected use.
The clasp and jump rings are common failure points. For higher-value use, we recommend a secure lobster, trigger or screw clasp and welded joins where appropriate.

A properly designed keeper is secure for normal daily movement because the ring cannot escape without the reverse movement being performed deliberately. For intense sport, contact activity or unpredictable movement, we still recommend tucking the necklace inside clothing or storing the ring safely.
Yes, this is one of the strongest use cases. It allows the wearer to remove rings from the hand quickly while keeping them close to the body. Workplace rules still apply, so the necklace may need to sit underneath clothing or scrubs.
We usually recommend stronger chain profiles such as Franco, box, rope or heavier curb styles, generally starting around 1.5mm to 2.0mm depending on the pendant and ring weight. Very fine cable or delicate fashion chains are not ideal for this use.
