Winnats Pass, Castleton
Winnats Pass is a steep limestone gorge near Castleton in the Hope Valley, with rocky walls rising steeply on both sides of a narrow road through the pass. The pass is accessible by road but walking the path through it and up into the surrounding limestone pasture gives more privacy.

The Derwent Reservoir Edges, Upper Derwent Valley
The Upper Derwent Valley north of the Hope Valley contains three reservoirs — Ladybower, Derwent, and Howden — set in a steep-sided wooded valley with open moorland above. The road along the valley edge and the tracks up onto the surrounding moorland give access to some of the most remote-feeling landscape within two hours of Manchester or Sheffield. The Derwent Dam, used by the Dambusters for practice runs in 1943, is a specific landmark that adds historical weight to the location.
